Cabo Verde immigration and Visa
Cabo Verde Entry Visas
Entry visas for the Republic of Cape Verde can be obtained from Cape Verdean diplomatic missions and consular offices abroad, designated border posts, and the immigration services department. Entry visas may be individual or collective, single or multiple entry, and come in various types including diplomatic, courtesy, official, residence, tourist, transit, visitor, business, and student visas.
For entry into Cape Verde's national territory, one of the following documents is required:
a) A valid passport or equivalent document for the country and an entry visa issued by competent Cape Verdean authorities, also valid;
b) Other documents established in conventions or international agreements to which Cape Verde is a party.
It is important to ensure that your passport is valid for at least six months beyond your planned stay in Cape Verde. Additionally, travelers should carry proof of onward or return travel arrangements, as well as sufficient funds to cover their stay.
Visa Exemption Agreements
To make traveling easier, Cape Verde has established visa waiver agreements with several countries. Citizens of the following nations do not require a visa for short stays (up to 30 days):
- European Union Countries
- United Kingdom
- United States
- Canada
- Schengen Area Countries
- Brazil
- ECOWAS Member States
Please note that even travelers from visa-exempt countries must register online prior to their arrival. This registration should be done through the Cape Verde EASE (Electronic Authorization for Simplified Entry) portal, preferably five days before their intended arrival date.
Visa on Arrival
For those who are not from visa-exempt countries or who have not obtained a visa beforehand, Cape Verde offers the option to acquire a visa on arrival. This visa is generally valid for up to 30 days and can be obtained at select airports across the archipelago.
Extended Stays and Residence
If you intend to stay longer than the permitted 30 days or wish to establish residence in Cape Verde, you must apply for an appropriate visa type before your arrival. This can be done through a Cape Verdean consulate or embassy in your home country.
Pre-Registration and TSA
All foreigners must pre-register online 5 days before traveling and pay the Airport Security Tax (TSA). Exemptions apply for Cape Verde nationals, residents, children under two, and official mission passengers.
